Feel free to join us in the Assiniboine Golf Course lounge – Wednesday – October 5th for the 2011 NHL Hockey Draft!

Registration starts at 7:00PM and drafting starts at 7:30PM.

Cost: $20

Format will be similar to previous years and will be finalized as we confirm numbers.

If you just want to join in the fun of the evening feel free to come out and have a beverage or an appetizer with some good company!

The AGC’s Doctor of Fun, has booked this years annual “Christmas in August” novelty golf tournament!

This years festivities will be held on Saturday August 27th.

Mixed, teams of two, 9 holes, alternate shot format.
Dress code for this tournament…… your favorite holiday season wear.
Santa and Mrs. Santa will be there to golf, and to hand out the gifts.
$20.00 for AGC members, and $30.00 for guests (includes golf and dinner).
As members of the Ladies Business League, you would be classified as AGC members. Therefore, the cost would be $20 and 1 9 hole golf credit from your LBL package.
Dinner only $20.00
Don’t forget to bring a $10.00 (Christmas wrapped) gift for the gift exchange
Registration is between 5:00 – 5:30 PM, and shotgun start at 5:45 PM
Christmas dinner will be prepared by the AGC elves and will be held after golf.

There is a sign-up sheet posted on the board right beside the computer downstairs in the proshop. Call the pro-shop at 988-9313 to book your golf cart before they’re all taken.

Website Overhaul

As promised, the Assiniboine Golf Course (AGC) website has now gone through a complete redesign and the new site has been launched at www.golfassiniboine.com

What’s New?

Clean look that will display professionally on almost all computer and mobile based web browsers. The new website is built using a product called “WordPress” which makes content management much simpler and ensures our webpage is displayed consistently to those viewing it. In addition to this, the new website incorporates drop down menus, simple forms, allows for browser based updates (allowing the proshop and others to do simple updates) and other features that bring a professional feel to the web browsing experience.
“News” section contains news articles on various happenings at the AGC. These articles will be produced based on various events, happenings and information the proshop, board and others put together to update members and the general public about the AGC. In addition to this, you can now comment and have discussions on each news article by using the built in blog feature. All posts will be monitored to ensure the comments are family friendly and appropriate. Try it out!
Direct Integration to Facebook allows “non-Facebook” users to see updates that are posted to our Facebook page. Presently we have over 120 people that “Like” us on Facebook and follow our news feed. On average each post to Facebook is getting between 400-500 views. Our Facebook Newsfeed is updated several times per week. This integration can be viewed on the right hand side of most pages of the new website however for a one stop area for updates on news including the updated Facebook feed please visit the “News” section
Pictures! We have had a great deal of feedback requesting pictures of the golf course as a picture is a great marketing tool. The new website is very picture savvy and we intend to continue this trend. Thanks to Mike Lagace and Sean Mercier for the pictures that are being used on the new website. In the digital age, a good picture or video are easy to come by however they aren’t always shared out to those that would like to see them. Feel free to share your pictures by e-mailing them to webmaster@golfassiniboine.com. Pictures e-mailed to the that address may be posted to the website, Facebook or otherwise for all to enjoy!
Elimination of password protected sections. After a review of the content posted in the password protected sections it was decided to remove the password requirement and consolidate these sections. For “Members Only” content this can now be found as part of the “News” section. The “Event Calendar” is now one click away and available off the “Home” page via the “News” drop down menu. The “Ladies League” section has been shortened down to a single section and can now be found on the “Ladies League” page under the “Golf Course” drop down menu.
Creation of a new e-mail address which you can send your website feedback, pictures from AGC events, AGC news or anything else that you think would enhance the website. Please e-mail webmaster@golfassiniboine.com with anything you would like to share.
There are many other great new features and changes which brings our website up-to-date and to the next level.

I would like to thank a personal friend of mine Tom Peever from noon30 for the new redesign of our site and ongoing support through migration. In addition to the redesign of our site, noon30 has taken over the hosting and domain registration of our site saving the AGC approximately $200 yearly. Day-to-day updates of the new website will still be supported by myself to avoid pricey administration costs however the proshop and others will be trained on how to make simple updates to the website through the new tools at our disposal.
